Bossier Parish, LA – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced major progress in the ongoing $8.4 million asphalt overlay project along U.S. Highway 80 in the Bossier City–Haughton corridor.

The project, which covers a five-mile stretch from the Flat River near Bossier Parish Community College to Merrywood Boulevard, has reached a critical milestone. Crews have completed laying new asphalt on both the eastbound and westbound lanes.
Current work includes resurfacing turn lanes, median crossovers, driveway connections, shoulders, and guardrail areas. Crews are also replacing existing guardrails.
Upcoming tasks include installing loop detectors at traffic signals and applying permanent striping and road signage.
Motorists traveling through the area should expect intermittent lane closures as work continues. The DOTD urges drivers to remain alert, reduce speed through work zones, and maintain a safe distance from other vehicles.
The entire project is on track to be completed by late 2025, pending weather and other unforeseen delays.
DOTD also reminds local residents to use caution when driving, walking, or biking near the active construction zone.
