SHREVEPORT, LA – On Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at approximately 11:10 a.m., Shreveport Police responded to a major two-vehicle collision in the 7500 block of Fern Avenue involving a Chevrolet Camaro and a GMC Yukon.
Upon arrival, officers found Shreveport Fire Department personnel providing medical assistance. The driver and passenger of the GMC Yukon sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment.
The driver of the Camaro was extricated by witnesses and first responders. However, a 17-year-old passenger in the Camaro, unresponsive at the scene, required extensive extraction efforts. Both occupants of the Camaro were transported to a local hospital, where the juvenile passenger remains in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.
According to the driver of the Yukon, the Camaro was traveling at a high rate of speed before the crash. The driver stated she attempted to place her vehicle in park but accidentally shifted into neutral. The Camaro entered the center lane, and its passenger-side door struck the front bumper of the Yukon, causing the Yukon to roll backward off the roadway.
The incident remains under investigation. Authorities ask the community to keep the individuals and families affected in their thoughts during this time.
