Shreveport, La — Caddo Parish District Attorney James E. Stewart Sr. has transferred the case of 16-year-old J’Marion Salsberry from juvenile court to adult court. Salsberry is now facing a charge of armed robbery.

The charge stems from an incident on December 27, 2024, when Salsberry allegedly pulled a gun on a customer at a convenience store on Jewella Avenue, robbing him of $60. The robbery was captured on the store’s surveillance cameras, and Salsberry was identified by both the victim and a store clerk.
At the time of the robbery, Salsberry was reportedly wearing an ankle monitor tied to a previous juvenile court sentence issued on December 18, 2024.

The decision to transfer the case is in accordance with Louisiana Children’s Code, Article 305, which allows for juvenile offenders aged 15 or older to be prosecuted as adults for certain criminal acts following a review by the District Attorney.
Additionally, Article 879 of the code mandates that all proceedings in juvenile delinquency cases involving crimes of violence must be open to the public.
The case underscores the legal framework allowing for the divestiture of juvenile court jurisdiction in cases of severe crimes.
